Why Imposter Syndrome Is Healthy

As Rich Litvin says, if you don’t have imposter syndrome, you’re not dreaming big enough.

This reminds me of The Peter Principle, which states how every employee in an organisation gets promoted to the level of their incompetence.

There will always be great or lesser persons that you, and where you fit in the hierarchy right now is probably exactly where you should be.

Feeling fear about the next level is just a fear of the unknown – about what might happen when you take one more step towards your incompetence.

In our 21st century coaching and therapy businesses of course, we can continually stretch our competence through reading, listening and hanging out with smarter folks than us.

That way, you’ll feel less of an imposter, and feel the thrill of complete competence at least for now.

Until your dreams reach the next level, of course.
