The opposing forces holding you back

Author James Clear writes how we all have an average speed that we perform at in life.

Your path to greatness could be created by developing the ability to increase your average speed, and accomplish more.

Why’s that easier said than done?

Because your average speed is a result of two opposing forces.

Firstly, there’s whatever’s propelling you forwards:

  • Focus
  • Talent
  • Hard Work
  • Great Ideas
  • Strong Goal-Setting

But they’re countered by the things that are holding you back:

  • Self-doubt
  • Toxic relationships
  • Lack of sleep
  • Stress
  • Multi-tasking

As Clear says, if those forces are equal and opposite, there’s a Newtonian balance which means you’ll find it hard to make any real progress.

What seems immediately easier – sweating to ramp up the effort on list one, or removing things from list two?

I know, right?
