It’s tough to admit we screwed up. It hurts, and sometimes more than just our ego. If we walk around taking the blame for everything, won’t people see us as hopeless failures?

Anyway, maybe it wasn’t actually our fault. Maybe the economic climate IS against us. Maybe our suppliers really DID let us down. Maybe the market just wasn’t READY!

Trouble is, if we blame our problems on someone or something else, then we hand over the ability to solve those problems too. And we all know how that works out.

If you want credit for your achievements, take responsibility for your failure. All you’re doing is telling yourself the truth, because it is always your fault.

3 steps:

  1. Shoulder the blame
  2. Do it better next time
  3. Bask in glory
