Digging in the sand

I learn so much from my little lad, every day.

Oscar’s been playing on the beach this week, and occupied himself for hours digging out seashells and piling up tiny driftwood sticks.

When the waves came in and lapped over his feet, he was simply astounded at the experience.

Hundreds of times over.

As I watched him, he taught me how to be present, to take joy where it’s found, and how to yearn for nothing more than what you’re doing RIGHT NOW.

If we wanted to reproduce that as adults, we’d have to be doing something simply delightful all the time.

And that’s really not practical.

IS it?
