In our profession, there’s no place for ego.Â
Strutting around, reminding your fans how great you are and why they need you, might work some of the time.
And with some of the people.
But the quiet confidence of the true leader is far more appealing, and enduring.Â
- Sure, you need to demonstrate that you know what you’re doing
- But reminding us that you still have much to learn is more powerful still
- Sure, we need to hear how you’re doing alright for yourself
- But it’s reassuring to see you’re not so different from us after all
- Sure, explain how you’ve figured out something we haven’t manged on our own yet
- But remember to credit your mentors and the team that’s been supporting you along the way
Genuine humility is a true success trait.Â
Love you lots
Jonny
PS: Being humble doesn’t mean shying away from landing a handful of lucrative corporate clients. They’ll probably love you right away.
I’ve written a short guide all about breaking into corporate wellbeing consulting, and you can have it with my comps if you type “Humble” in reply to this email.Â
