Old-style coaching or therapy business:

1: Charge by the hour

2: Fill as many hours as you can with low-paying clients

3: Struggle to fit in “marketing” and client delivery in an average week

4: Suffer roller-coaster revenue flow

5: Run out of time before you run out of ambition

New-style coaching or therapy business:

1: Decide who you want to work with

2: Offer a high-ticket group programme to solve their biggest problem with one touch-point each week

3: Launch it regularly when you’ve corralled together a specific (low) number of joiners

4: Fill the rest of your days with conversations with people who look like your ideal clients

5: Create a scalable and sustainable practice, thriving and earning exactly what you want

The main difference between those two approaches?

Old-style means spending 80% of your time on delivery, and the rest on random marketing efforts.

New-style means spending 80% of your time (at least) in conversations with people, and the rest on impactful, structured delivery.

If you’re too busy working with clients to make any real money, try flipping things around a bit.

Love you lots
Jonny

PS: I took exactly that approach ^^^ with my four-person Client Attraction Blueprint programme, which ran from 2018 – 2024 with 107 launches and 428 people. It’s a perfect format to get your business rolling properly.

If you’ve been through the CAB or marketed your own version, the next logical step is to take your talents into companies and organisations crying out for corporate wellbeing support. Fewer clients, more impact.

Here’s a questionnaire to work out if you’re ready for it.

Moms and dads, then every self-help book in history teaches the same delusion:

“You can be anything you want to be”.

Those 8 toxic words have entrapped and disempowered more people around the world than almost any other fairy tale.

Locked in the torment of believing you can achieve anything you set your mind to, you’ll be grasping at straws, gasping for air, and grappling with impossible dreams.

Here’s a more reliable route to your dream life:

Identify your values and your passion

Come up with an idea that serves those values and that passion

Calibrate the level of your ability to reach an audience who’ll pay you for it

Reach out for help, support and guidance to hone your idea and widen your audience

Check regularly if you’re getting closer to your dreams. If not, come up with another idea instead

That’s pretty much what every successful person does, every day.

Just don’t get seduced by wild imaginings, as down that road lies madness, wasted lives and crushing disappointment.

Love you lots
Jonny

PS – If you think you could succeed as a corporate wellbeing coach and build a thriving practice, the best time to start is right now.

You just need a little guidance – like my comprehensive eBook, Five Steps to Lucrative Corporate Clients.

Type “Five Steps” in reply to this email, and I’ll fire you a copy over right away.

The robots are here!

Apologies for the slightly alarmist headline.

That’s not like me at all, right!?

But I needed to get you attention, because we need to talk about AI.

We need to talk about how AI is going to take 25% of white-collar jobs in the next 5 years. That’s mass elimination of paid work for tech geeks, financial folks, lawyers, customer service, etc etc.

Some of those people are your current clients. No doubt.

When they lose their jobs, they lose their means to pay you, and you lose them as a client.

Working 1-2-1 with individual members of the public is about to get even harder than it is now.

Unless you’re an eccentric millionaire or have means of support through your partner, your property portfolio or your pension, I’m guessing you need revenue to survive.

So, how do you make yourself immune to the career-destroying rampage of automated jobs?

It’s the answer to the question:

Which roles require the presence of a sentient, empathetic human, with the ability to guide, support and love other humans, and acting always for the greater good?

Seems to me you’ve got pretty solid potential as a wellbeing practitioner, if you can break into working with companies and organisations.

Here’s why:

Employees are more stressed and anxious about the future than ever

Employers need them to be happy, engaged and productive, more than ever

There’ll be a huge demand for career realignment coaching to keep people useful and earning money

Companies and organisations are increasingly creating budgets for the wellbeing of their workers and execs

You can easily turn your existing skills and modalities to working with teams, leaders and businesses without much realignment

There’s never been a better time to start some corporate outreach, so I’ll leave you with a simple thought exercise:

“Who do I know in a position of influence where significant numbers of people are employed?”

When you’ve made your list, pick up the phone, send emails or DMs offering to talk about making their lives easier.

Your life in the Age of AI could depend on it.

Love you lots
Jonny

PS: We have openings for a handful of skilled and experienced wellbeing practitioners to join us in the CIB project in August.

Reply with “CIB” and I’ll fire you over a short doc explaining the application process.

Speak up...

Most of us get approaches from clients who think they have a problem we can solve.

They might also believe they know what’s causing it.

Like a patient going to her doctor demanding treatment for her emphysema when she’s unwittingly contracted TB, your clients are not always right about what’s troubling them.

Your stressed-out mum client might think their kids are causing daily anxiety, when it’s her own unresolved childhood trauma

Your business owner client might think he has a sales problem when it’s actually an offer problem

Your HR manager client might think she has a lazy workforce when it’s a simple failure of leadership

Your CEO client might tell you they want anger management training when they actually need a proper wellbeing policy

Your coach client might think they’re not qualified enough when they’re actually not positioning their services well enough

So what’s the answer?

Be prepared to reframe the client’s initial statements with nonaggressive questioning.

I wonder if there’s something else going on?

What’s the evidence this is the main issue?

What assumptions are we making here?

What happens then is often to mutual benefit.

The client sees the issue is not quite as simple as they thought, and needs more work over a longer period.

You get to stick around, get paid more, and they get a solution that actually works.

Win-win!

Love you lots

“The way to become rich is to put all your eggs in one basket and then watch that basket.” – Andrew Carnegie

We read a lot about multiple income streams, and the power of spreading your “risk”, whatever that is.

But that flies in the face of the strategy adopted by the world’s great entrepreneurs and creators.

Bill Gates: Software

Steve Jobs: Technology

Warren Buffet: Investing

Jeff Bezos: eCommerce

Andrew Carnegie: Steel

You: Coaching (possibly)

While you’re faffing around trying to get coaching clients, building an MLM business and working on a property hustle, all your single-tracked colleagues are likely running rings around you.

It’s hard to focus on more than one thing at once, and you’ll do none of them well if you try.

Like you, there are many things I CAN do, but that doesn’t mean I SHOULD, and certainly not altogether.

Nor should you.

Keep your one basket close, watch the eggs hatch and the chicks thrive.

Then you can try something else, if you must.

Love you lots
Jonny

Not what you think...

It’s easy to misunderstand what your personal brand really means.

🧐 It’s not your logo
🧐 It’s not your name
🧐 It’s not your qualifications
🧐 It’s not your colour scheme
🧐 It’s definitely not your limited company name (yuk)

Some of those things might contribute to supporting your brand, but here’s what your brand actually is:

What people think and feel when they see and hear you.

So it’d be good if this was how they reacted:

💚 I like this person
💚 I trust this person
💚 This person gets me
💚 This person can help me
💚 I want to contact them and find out how

Any other reactions are a sign of a mismanaged or unmanaged brand.

And there’s the biggest misunderstanding of all – believing you don’t have a brand.

People are bound to feel something when they see or hear you, right?

So you DO have a brand. We all do.

It’s up to you how – or even whether – you manage it.

Love you lots
Jonny

PS: If you’re a coach, therapist or consultant stuck on the client treadmill, I’m scheming an all-new workshop on the 28th April to show you my proven 5-step system for landing high-value corporate clients—without needing a team, an agency, or even a sales call.

The registration page is still in production, so type “Treadmill” in reply to this email, and I’ll make sure you’re at the top of the waiting list.

This works...always

You don’t earn in relation to your effort. You don’t earn in relation to your time.

And especially, you don’t earn what you THINK you deserve.

You earn in relation to your impact.

You get paid based on how many people you affect, and how deeply.

That works across the world, and in all walks of life.

Footballers
Pop stars
Movie icons
Architects
Business owners

And yes, coaches, consultants and therapists.

Those who earn lots of money impact the lives of lots of people, and not in a small way.

So here’s your route to riches:

1: Go find lots of people to market and sell your services to, or
2: Become a trusted adviser to a handful of companies or organisations which employ lots of people

That second route, counter-intuitively, is actually easier to master long-term.

It might be a little slower to build momentum, but hey.

Today might just be the day to get started…

Love you lots
Jonny

EEEK!

Back in 2012, I was looking to reset my life.

Worn out from serving a rag-bag of businesses with general consultancy, I determined to specialise.

Reinvention as a soon-to-be renowned marketing expert was in my mind.

Then a friend threw a spanner in the works.

He told me, Jonny – you have so many skills.

You can do ANYTHING!

Taking him at face value, I built a hugely complex programme to provide marketing training for any kind of business, selling anything to anybody.

And he was RIGHT – I could do “anything”.

But he was also WRONG.

Just because you could do anything doesn’t mean you should.

Result?

Nobody believed my miracle solution to ALL their marketing woes.

They didn’t believe I could serve their dog-food business and the dentist next-door.

And soon, I was back to where I was, serving a rag-bag of clients with nothing in particular.

It took me another 5 years to dig my way out of that hole, and turn the tanker around.

And here I am, happy, focused, niched and on my way to another 7-figure business.

Big lesson: The freedom to do anything isn’t permission to do EVERYTHING.

Pick. One. Thing.

Everyone uses emails, but not all emails are equal.

Here are just a few of the types of emails I get, every day:

1: Monthly “newsletters” full of the sender’s achievements
2: Spam sales messages from companies I’ve never heard of
3: “Buy now or else” special offers on stuff I don’t need or want
4: Marketing ploys from people I’d forgotten I’d subscribed to, or why
5: Useful information, value or questions from people I know, like and trust

Only that last kind is actually welcome, enjoyable and impactful.

The rest are just life-sapping digital noise.

Before you press “send” on your next email, think about how it’ll be received. If it’s not a “Category 5”, you might just be wasting everyone’s time.

I noticed that business coaches seemed to earn more than life coaches in 2024.

Maybe it’s because business coaches can easily promise monetary benefits:

“Buy my £3k programme and I’ll make you £10k this month”

By contrast, a life coach says:

“Buy my £3k programme and I’ll make you happier”

But how about if they talked about money too?

“Buy my £3k programme and I’ll help you:

overcome anxiety/PTSD/depression/addiction, or

gain clarity on your career and can gain promotions more easily, or

discover your true purpose and start your dream business, or

reignite your relationship with your spouse and reduce family stress, or

stop smoking/lose weight/get fit/cure your allergies…

…so that you can earn more money, save more money, and live a life of freedom, choice and abundance.”

Client says, double whammy. I’m in.

Maybe it’s all about the money, always.

Let's get on with it!

We’re sitting at a pivotal point in history.

Some of the questions my tribe have been asking in the last few months would have sounded like gibberish five years ago:

Could a robot take my job?

Should I be using AI to write my content?

What would I do if Facebook closed my account?

What do my clients need that could never be automated?

How can I possibly cope with the social media algorithm changes?

Yet all those questions (and more) should be on your radar from this day forwards.

Make no mistake, thriving in the online coaching or therapy space has never been easy. But if you think you can keep on doing exactly what you’ve been doing till now, you’ll be lucky to see out another year.

[Happy New Year, by the way.]

I predict we’re going to see a contraction in our profession, as so many talented practitioners will give up the unequal struggle against social media, AI and better-marketed competitors.

Of course, my dearest wish for you is to ride this new wave and flourish for as long as you want.

So, to guide you into your exponential future and mark this glorious 12-month clean sheet ahead of us, Fritha and I have published an all-new, unmissable white paper.

The 2025 Coaching And Consulting Success Blueprint
[Five Things you Must Be Doing To Survive And Thrive This Year]

It lays out EXACTLY the steps to focus on – and what to move away from – and I’m releasing it exclusively to my subscribers (that’s YOU) right here, right now, with my compliments.

Writer and mentor Scott Oldford talks about the the biggest desire driving most clients in our profession.

At the surface level it might appear they crave money, health, relationships or anything else.

But deep down, your clients want to be able to relax and not worry.

And there’s lots to worry about in such a topsy-turvy world right now, with all kinds of tragedy, misery and aggression rammed down our throats by angry, noisy media.

They don’t want to worry about money
They don’t want to worry about their health
They don’t want to worry about relationships
They don’t want to worry about anything else!

If you can frame your offer as a way to help your clients relax and not worry about their biggest challenges and concerns, they’ll start to believe you’re the person they need.

Of course, you need to show up relaxed too, for that to be remotely believable.

So, work on your inner calm, focus and peace next year. Then, when you spread your glorious message to your clients, they’ll be listening to find out how you got so relaxed.

As Oldford says:

Relaxing is very close to freedom in the desires of a human being.

And that’s what they all want.

Seasons Great-ings

I’ve had over 300 direct conversations with skilled coaches and consultants around the world this year, and I’m ready to spill some beans.

Hot, Christmassy beans, being as today’s what they call “Christmas Friday”

Yes, to get you in the festive mood, here are the Top Five Things They Told Me Worked In 2024 And Will Again in 2025.

5: When in doubt what to write about, enter the conversation they’re already having

This is the antidote to writing random thoughts that appeal to hardly anyone. Analyse conversations, posts and messages from your actual clients, and write your stuff in their words.

4: It’s easier to sell a few expensive things than lots of cheap things

Build your signature programme, and get into regular conversations with people who might buy it. Some of them will, and you’ll save a lot of hassle.

3: If in doubt – put your prices up

This is the #1 easiest way to make more money, as it requires no more effort compared to what you’re already doing. Also, price rises go straight to your bottom line, as your expenses stay the same.

2: Pick 3 keys things you’re going to do every day

Blow those massive to-do lists out of the water and laser-focus on three Golden Actions that will drive results. Inviting new members to your community, posting content and starting conversations might be on this (very) short list.

1: Start a conversation with one person a day you didn’t speak to before

And here’s your #1. For now and forever, if you can start one new conversation every day with someone who looks like your next ideal client, you’ll have a sustainable, scalable business. The rest of your marketing is providing you with a steady flow of people to talk to. So, don’t forget to talk.

These five Pro-Tips sum up the work we’re doing in the CIB, and you can apply them every day throughout the New Year.

Just call me Santa Jonny.

Ho-Ho-Ho!

Hurry Up!

There’s one thing humans like more than FREE.

And that’s FAST.

After all, the sooner you can achieve a goal, the more time you’ve got to enjoy being there.

And the quicker you can accomplish something – anything – the quicker you can move onto something else more fun.

The universal truth understood by smart folks is that money is infinite, so something free demonstrably has little or no appeal.

Whereas, time is absolutely finite – we run out every day, and one day we’ll run out for eternity.

In your 21st century online coaching or therapy business, this means having a keen eye on how quickly your clients feel the benefit of working with you.

There’s a reason why one of the best-selling ads of all time said:

“Rock Hard Abs In 30 Days” and not “Rock Hard Abs For Free”.

But they can really

Here’s the news:

Nobody has a coaching budget.

Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, hey, I need me some coaching.

Or near enough to “nobody” that you won’t make a living if that’s your proposition.

People buy solutions.

A burger is a solution to immediate hunger

An iPhone is a solution to social isolation

A light bulb is a solution to darkness

A divorce is a solution to mutual indifference

A sports car is a solution to fading self-esteem

Some of those solutions are expensive, some not so much.

And yet, people invest in all of them, all the time.

Which means some problems are widely accepted as more expensive to fix than others.

So it’s not that they can’t afford you.

It’s that they don’t regard the problem you’re solving as expensive enough to justify your price.

PRO TIP: Work on solving an expensive problem, then your solution will always be affordable.

Lift-Off!

My pal Chris Brogan writes about the three levers you can pull to accelerate your business growth and revenue:

Velocity – does this get the buyer what she wants faster?

Friction – does this remove complexity or annoyance for the buyer?

Connectedness – is this something worth sharing with others?

Every idea you have starts off with a measure of each of those. Even if it’s close to zero, that’s still a measure, right?

Think of them like aircraft thrust levers, where the more you pull them, the more noise, excitement and acceleration you get.

How much more can you pull your levers?

No more mass-market...

There’s a saying in our business:

The only way to make a lot of money is to help a lot of people.

Of course, in both halves of that statement, some perspective on what constitutes “a lot” is required.

Even so, it’s a kind of truism.

Except.

There’s a reason why Ferrari is the far and away most profitable car company in the world, and the same principle applies to any business, including yours.

What if you could help FEWER people, yet make MORE money?

Only three simple things have to be in place for that to happen:

You provide a service that gives a massive transformational impact and value

You charge what it’s worth to the buyer, not what it costs you to deliver

You provide it only to people and organisations who can afford it

Whether that helps LOTS of people and makes you LOTS of money is still a matter of perspective, on both counts.

But it’s a good start.

Be the change...

We live in a world stupefied by the legacies of terrible historical ideas.

It’s like we’re honouring our ancestors by refusing to consider they might just have been wrong.

Here are just a few crazy behaviours we should have given up long ago:

Willfully inhaling poisons from plants we ignite and stick in our mouths

Supplicating ourselves to invisible, man-made sky-daddies

Torturing and murdering animals to please our taste-buds

Ruining our health and the planet by burning organic fuel in our transportation

Bingeing on medicine to treat illnesses that we caused ourselves

Admittedly, some of those ideas are on their way to the dustbin of former ignorance, but mostly not quickly enough.

On a personal level, the least we can do, (and probably the most we need to do), is to spread science, reason and clarity far and wide, human-to-human.

Each of us should promote our intolerance of terrible ideas as publicly as we promote our products and services.

And anyway, saying “Here’s a better way, join me” positions you as a thought-leader and makes everyone more receptive to buying whatever else you’re selling.

All the leaves are brown...

On this fine Wednesday morning, we’re mourning the recent passing of Q3, 2024.

And celebrating, we are, the dawn of Q4.

Why does this matter?

Well, it means that you’ve got 90 days to do two really important things:

Finish this year on a high note

Plan to launch next year with a massive bang

“So, Jonny”, you’re asking, “enough of stating the bleeding obvious – how are we going to do these things?”

I’m glad you asked, because I have the answers.

FINISHING 2024 ON A HIGH:

This is going to take some short-term, rapid-fire tactical thinking.

To make this quarter the strongest of all, you need to be looking back at the strongest elements of what worked so far this year (and before), and duplicating them.

For example:

What kind of offer got the best response? Roll it out one more time.

What posts got the most engagement? Repurpose them.

Which client was most rewarding to work with – impact and revenue? Ask them to work with you again.

What direct message got you the most sales calls? Copy and paste it, repeatedly.

What single action got you paid most quickly? Do it again.

That’s 2024 taken care of…

LAUNCHING 2025 WITH A BANG:

Planning for massive growth next year requires a change of strategy. You can’t do the same thing you’ve been doing and expect a different result.

This’ll take thought, action and support.

I can help you with all those things.

Since 2003, I’ve coached and consulted for over 100 senior leaders in businesses from start-ups to £300m annual revenue. I cracked the code of working with companies and organisations, filled with real people just like you and me.

And guess what?

They all need coaching, mentoring, training and even therapy.

The reason this’ll transform your 2025 is simple.

You sell once – to the decision maker in a business, and
You get paid long-term, multiple times and at satisfyingly high rates.

Why? Because you’re helping way more people simultaneously, leveraging your time and creating deep impact.

And if the idea of working in companies fills you with dread like seeing blues and reds flashing in your rearview mirror, I get it.

That’s why Pete Scott and I are running our unique training workshop “Five Steps To Lucrative Corporate Clients™” next Monday, the 7th October at 1pm UK.

In a short, sharp 58-minute interactive LIVE session, we’ll lay out the end-to-end process that’ll switch your business away from the hamster-wheel of endless posting, chats and sales calls, into a world where you only need a tiny handful of client to build a thriving business and a life of freedom and abundance.

I was in Italy last year, and will never forget two experiences where I felt undervalued and unimportant.

The first was travelling on a budget airline – the nasty orange one.

It was the only flight to where we wanted to go, so we struggled with baggage restrictions, miles of walking to the plane, steps to get on and off, and a lost suitcase when we arrived.

Second rubbish experience was discovering a magnificent beach on the Tuscan coast, to be told that we had to move as it was “private”. We could have stayed there if we hiked a half-mile to a hotel reception desk and bought a 40-euro token. Each.

We didn’t.

As transformation professionals, it’s tempting to construct a product ladder that leaves your best stuff for people who are prepared to pay for it.

Here’s a much, much, better idea:

Give away your best work.

Really: the secrets, the crown jewels, the keys to the kingdom.

Why?

Because your ideal client will feel truly valued, and they’ll wonder how they can pay you to get even more.

Breaking through the wall...

You might have heard that I built an 8-figure business in the early noughties, before selling it to the wrong people and losing everything.

Status
Wife
Savings
Income
Fancy possessions

By 2007, I was bankrupt, and it took away more than my financial wealth.

I started to believe I didn’t deserve to be successful, and that I never would be again.

I wallowed around like that for almost 8 years, until I met some of the RIGHT people, stopped hanging out with the WRONG people (there are such things) and decided to get my shit back together.

And that’s often all it takes, I’ve noticed.

Meeting and collaborating with people who share your goals

Learning the right strategy to leverage your already-learnt skills

Replacing a doom mindset with a growth mindset

Once through my recovery stage, I knew anything’s possible and I built another 7-figure business around this glorious community.

Operation 2025: taking more coaches than ever to exponential abundance with the Consultants In Business Project.

If you have an inkling to work with lucrative corporate clients, I’ll take you along too.

Because we both deserve it.

Love you lots

Time for action!

I like to define and divide my working year by the seasons themselves.

There’s no point in inventing another calendar, and it makes perfect sense to create an ebb and flow in tune with the way the world naturally works.

As we head into Autumn 2024, there’s lots to accomplish.

It’s not only about ending the year on the highest of high peaks, but it’s about getting set up, at least in outline, for how much higher we can scale in 2025.

At this point, there’s literally no reason not to sketch out your wildest dreams of abundance. Here’s some ideas:

If you’re sick of living with cold winters and rainy summers, where could you move to that would guarantee sunshine?

If you want to double your revenue, what would you need to do to achieve just that?

If you want a dream car/house/[insert desired stuff here] picture it, cost it, and target it, on paper

If finding a perfect business partner is your goal for next year, get out and meet people, now

If you’d like to contact Richard Branson and ask for his help, what’s stopping you?

In fact, all you ever need to do to meet any goal is make a plan and execute it, good and hard.

What’s your wildest dream for 2025?

Jonny

Spinning too much...

If you’re a multi-faceted, multi-talented human, there’s a great temptation to have a few things going on at once.

I was that guy 7 years ago, running social media campaigns, planning exit strategies, raising funding, and generally doing anything my rag-bag client portfolio demanded of Jonny the Business Consultant.

Truth is, my divided attention meant I sucked at most of it.

Not only that, but the stress and overwhelm of a dozen spinning plates turned me into me a fairly rubbish parent and partner too.

When I studied a few prominent and successful coaches, I came to a startling conclusion:

They all had one, singular focus, serving their specific ideal client, and delivering one simple, coherent programme.

So, I started working on that in late 2016, and the result is the blooming Everyone Hates Marketing practice you see today:

Happy Jonny.

Effective Jonny

Impactful Jonny

The more you try and divide your focus, the less likely any of that becomes.

One. Thing. At. A. Time.

They need reminding

I was talking to a nutritionist recently about his enthusiasm for drinking loads of water.

Yeah, he said, shame I can’t sell this idea as a number one health tip, but it’s OBVIOUS that everybody knows about water, right?

Well, yes and no.

Yes, we all know we need water to survive.
We all know what “getting thirsty” feels like.
Some of us might know the body’s made up of around 60% water, so durr, we need it.

But, NO, we don’t drink enough.
Not nearly enough.
Through simple blind ignorance, 75% of the Western population is dehydrated.

A similar dichotomy probably exists between what you think your clients know, and what they actually know.

So, next time you’re struggling to justify your expertise, thinking of what to say next, or how you’re going to help someone, take a breath.

Simply state what’s blindingly obvious to you, based on your knowledge, skills and experience.

That’s what they’re paying you for.

So boring...

A while ago, I set a challenge in the Group:

“Draft an irreverent one-liner that might attract your ideal client’s attention.”

You commented with over 70 of your great ideas, and then…

Nothing much changed.

You went back to being vanilla.

Well, maybe not you personally, but you get my drift.

Definitely the “Me-Too, Vanilla Coachapist” is a thing in our community.

Scattered around my newsfeed every morning I spot bland, confusing and downright unappealing stuff like:

Become your best self

Reinvent your life

Get whatever you want

Connect with your soul

Discover your destiny

Look, I’m not saying those things aren’t important, but do you have any idea how many other coachapists are using EXACTLY the same words to try and attract THEIR clients?

As Rich Litvin reminded me today:

Doing the opposite of what the majority are doing is almost never a risk.

This also means that doing exactly the same as a bunch of other practitioners is almost always a risk.

You’re risking anonymity, lack of impact, and business catastrophe.

So here’s the updated challenge:

“Draft an irreverent one-liner that might attract your ideal client’s attention, and USE it in your next post to your community”

Then come back here and tell us how it worked out.

Deal?

Love you lots
Jonny

PS: Don’t forget – more Purple Yam Mocha Hazelnut than Vanilla, please.

“The way to attract good luck is to be reliable in a valuable area”

Author James Clear delivered that shining nugget to my inbox recently, and isn’t it so true?

I’ve been talking and listening to some amazing folks this week, and one thing’s recurred again and again:

Delivering consistent results to people who can afford to pay you is the secret to your thriving professional business.

I frame this simple idea as the WHAT and the WHO:

WHAT great transformational benefit is within your skillset to deliver?

WHO are the wealthiest kind of people who’d get value from that?

As Clear suggests, if you answer those two questions smartly, it’ll feel like you just got lucky.

$100,000 from one client!

Is that even possible?

Hell yeah, says supercoach Steve Hardison, who spends his life helping executive and business-owner clients for multiple 5 and 6 figures fees. And our very own Cordelia Gaffar just last year worked with the female VIP of a large American corporation for a fee in excess of $100k.

I’ve personally had multiple clients engage my marketing agency for £30k, each and every month over the long haul. And my CIB co-founder Pete Scott is currently working with a global leisure company on a six-figure engagement.

What do all these practitioners have in common?

Simple.

They made choices.

They chose to:

😎 Stop playing small, and realise they’re as skilled as anyone else
😎 Talk to business owners instead of members of the public
😎 Focus on the highest value their work could bring, and charge appropriately
😎 Understand how successful people have bigger, more expensive problems than others
😎 Position themselves with power and authority as peers to the clients they want to attract

What’s stopping you making those choices, anytime soon?

Love you lots
Jonny

Think of them first...

In a brilliant VIP training session recently, we asked “why is your content not being seen, read or engaged with?”

Here’s probably why:

1: You think you don’t have clients because people don’t understand what you do
2: So you’re creating a bunch of content to get them to understand
3: But the real problem is that your ICA doesn’t feel understood
4: So the more content you create about yourself and your process, the more it drives people away

What engages an audience is not the amount of information you give them, but the quality of attention you pay them.

Content creation is your demand for attention.
Audience engagement is giving your attention.

Stop trying to demand their attention.
Start giving them your attention.

As super-coach Rich Litvin says to aspiring authors, stop trying to write a book for a million people.

Write a book for a single, ideal client.

And that thought process applies to most everything you’ll create in your 21st century online coaching or therapy business.
